The Michigander is in need of volunteers! Consider volunteering for 2 days or for the week! It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and support Michigan trails and there are many ways you can get involved.
First off, our most important volunteer role is working the SAG (Support Aid Group) stops. You can help set up rest stops along the route and provide water, snacks, first aid supplies and support for riders during their ride.
We also need people interested in helping with Special Events and Entertainment. Duties include planning themed events at SAG stops, games in camp, and assisting in coordinating entertainment events for the afternoons and evenings. We need your ideas and creativity!
Now, this next job would be ideal for someone who is familiar with the camp site towns and events going on in the communities. We need Assistant Site Coordinators. In this role, you are our city concierge. You will arrive at the next stop with the main site coordinator and assist in getting the school prepped for our hundreds of riders. This role is typically very busy interacting with riders. (Chatty-Kathy’s out there are welcome!)
Other volunteer opportunities include DRIVING a luggage truck from site to site or, if you have a HAM license , operating HAM RADIOs.
Volunteers will receive a Michigander T-shirt and two delicious meals a day.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please feel free to e-mail our Michigander Coordinator, Barry Culham, for more information. Please put VOLUNTEER in the subject line.
Thanks for all your support and Happy Trails!
