The Michigander has begun: Cycling to Mackinaw City

ImageRiders- welcome we’re glad you’re here for the 21st Annual Michigander Bicycle Tour!

And spectators-we hope this blog will make you feel like you’re riding the trails with us!
Today’s ride was 36 miles long from Indian River to Mackinaw City on the North Central State Trail. Riders had a SAG stop at “Halloween town” in Topinabee and enjoyed scenic views of sparkling Mullet Lake.

ImageThe Michigan Department of Natural Resources featured their Recreation Passport RV at the site in Mackinaw today, giving out samples of delicious Mackinac Island Fudge ice cream (of course) from Michigan-based creamery Hudsonville Ice Cream. We sure enjoyed their “random act of ice cream”!

The weather was a tad on the hot side but evening showers are cooling things down. And after a delicious meal catered by Mackinaw restaurant Audie’s, people seem like they’re ready to wind down, stay out of the rain, and begin their cycling journeys again tomorrow.
