Welcome riders! We’re glad you’re here for the 22nd Annual Michigander Bicycle Tour! Spectators and fans of MTGA and all things trails and cycling, we hope this blog will make you feel like you’re riding the trails with us.
Yesterday’s ride began with a 28 mile long stretch starting in Charlevoix and traveling through the streets of downtown Charlevoix to the 26 mile stretch of the Little Traverse Wheelway and in to beautiful Harbor Springs. Riders were treated with an Easter SAG stop about halfway along the trail where they could hunt for Easter eggs and trade it in for a piece of candy or a sticker. They enjoyed some pretzels dipped in peanut butter with licorice and Luna bars from our sponsor, Clif Bar. Delicious!
This morning, over 300 two-day riders made their way back
to Charlevoix where they were greeted at the finish line with celebratory cake and refreshments. The weather on both days was gorgeous with blue skies and a light breeze coming off of the lake to compliment the sunshine and warm weather. Riders commented on the fact that the weather added to the enjoyment of this year’s ride.
Congratulations, 2-day riders on a job well done! We hope you had a wonderful time and look forward to seeing you next year!
Six and seven day riders continued on to Bellaire today on a 56-mile stretch. From there, the Michigander will really get started as we head to Gaylord tomorrow morning!
